“Telling my story through food allows a brief window into my culture by sharing foods that were staples for my ancestors.”

Christopher was born and raised in Haverstraw, NY. However, his ancestry can be traced back to James Island, SC and he is proud to embrace his Gullah culture. He is an account supervisor that has been with MG for almost six years. He has been recognized several times for his service to the Guilford College community through their Excellence Brought to Light Awards.

“Food is integral in preserving my family’s history. There are so many stories tied to my Grandma’s red rice, which was passed down from her mother, to her mother, and so on. It connects me to all of them. Their legacy and history is directly tied to it.”
